By accessing and using Property Risk Checker, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.
2. Nature of the Service
Property Risk Checker provides indicative natural hazard information derived from the open GIS data published by the council covering the property. It is not a replacement for an official Land Information Memorandum (LIM) or a professional engineering assessment.
3. Disclaimer
Information is illustrative and indicative only, derived from open GIS data published by the relevant councils at the time of query. It is NOT a substitute for an official council LIM report or a professional engineering assessment, and must not be relied on as the sole basis for a property decision. Independent verification is recommended.
4. Data Attribution & Limitations
- Council Data: Hazard layer data is sourced from the open GIS services of the authorities covering each supported region: Auckland Council, Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury.
- Address Data (LINZ): Address auto-completion uses the LINZ NZ Physical Addresses dataset, licensed by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand for re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0).
Due to network conditions, timeouts, and system architecture, the hazard data may be served from a cache or may fail to load. We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free operation. Missing data does not mean an absence of hazard.
5. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Property Risk Checker and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of, or inability to use, this service or its data. You agree that any reliance upon the information provided is at your own risk.
